Ureteral stents are used for ensuring the patency of the ureter, which may be obstructed, for example, by a kidney stone. This method is sometimes used as a temporary measure in order to avoid damage to the blocked kidney until it is possible to extract the stone. While the common MEDPRO STENT (white, blue, green) can be inserted for 30 days, the MEDPROLONGDURO STENT (yellow) can be inserted for up to 90 days. They are indicated for ensuring the continuity of the ureter in case of pressure from the tumour in its proximity or the tumour of the ureter itself. These tumours are often inoperable and the stents are used for ensuring the drainage of urine through the ureter.

Stents can also be used in the so called "basket grab procedure." In this procedure, the stents are normally inserted for about a week. The stent will prevent the spasm and collapse of the ureter after this procedure.

Stents are usually made of the Tecoflex material, which is radiopaque, can be easily inserted and patients tolerate it well. The LongDuro Stent is made of Carbothane.

LS – LOOP STENT

The Loop Stent has on average 69% less material in the bladder compared to a traditional double J stent. The unique design adapted to the bladder has on average 69% less material. The insertion of this bladder-like stent designed to mimic fluoroscopic placement is very similar to a regular double J shape.

It is supplied in sterile packaging. The Loop Stent is made of white radiopaque polyurethane. It is intended for one-time use only. Regular checks are recommended.

MJS – MONO J STENT

The extended curl of the Mono J s pigtail vastly improves positional stability and traumatic characteristics in the renal pelvis. The Mono J Stent has excellent drainage along the entire catheter, even with strictures and when there is insufficient peristalsis of the ureter caused by perforation.

It is supplied in sterile packaging. The Mono J Stent is made of radiopaque polyurethane. It is available in blue, green and white colour. It is intended for one-time use only.

It is used for temporary drainage of the renal pelvis into the urinary bladder after the discussion of the stricture. The segment with no side ports prevents post-operative narrowing of the uteral lumen whilst preventing ingrowths of the uteral wall to the stent.

The Prostate Stent is inserted through the urethra to the point of constriction, where it is allowed to expand. The pressure exerted by the Prostate Stent on the inside wall of the urethra widens its bore and reduces the obstruction to the urinary flow.

TS – TUMOR STENT

The Tumor Stent optimizes drainage, even in cases where the ureter is extremely compressed. The soft material of the pigtail section offers high patient comfort, while the special stiffened shaft portion helps to prevent the stent from collapsing.
